Join Brian Flechsig of Mad River Outfitters as he travels to the southernmost point in Louisiana to fly fish for monster redfish in the bayou! The woodland plantation is 40 minutes from the southernmost point of louisiana and it's settled right on the banks of the mississippi. Built in the 1830s, it was originally a sugar cane plantation and in 1998 the owner Foster Creppel moved a historic church left abandoned in the bayou to the plantation and renovated it to the Spirits Hall you see today. We started our first day out on the Mississippi heading to the canes on the hunt for redfish with our guide, Travis Huckabe of Redfish Dynasty fly fishing.

Glad you had a fun and successful day fishing with Travis Huckabee. My son and I fished for Tarpon with him a few years ago out of Lanark Florida . He refused to let me sit with him behind the console and insisted that we stowed our phones as if the location we were fishing was a secret. Ironically it was Turkey Point Shoal , probably the most universally known and overfished Tarpon spot in the Panhandle and where I had fished 20 years ago with Gene Strickland . I knew it well. We never even saw a Tarpon that day . That day cost me $1000, [ $800 plus tip ] and I vowed never to fish with again or recommend him.
